Author Bio:		In 1983, I was mainstreamed into a regular high school. For the first couple of months I was in a special education class. Later, I was put into regular classes and that was more challenging. Two years later I was the first person in a wheelchair to be nominated for the homecoming queen. I was never so surprised, as when I heard that I had won. The next year I graduated from Lake Taylor High School with honors. That same summer I began college. All during college I worked very hard to stay on the Dean's list. Again, I graduated with honors. After college and due to my disability, I wasn't able to find a job. For several years I volunteered at Willow Wood Elementary School in a special needs class. Then one Christmas my parents gave me a computer. It was the best gift I ever received.
