Dr. Shaloma Gray is an education consultant and adjunct professor. Much of her work involves helping school officials, teachers, and parents to foster student success in the classroom. Dr. Gray has worked in education for twenty-one years. She has experience in establishing, operating, and working in both public and private schools. She has successfully filled roles as an early childhood and K-12 teacher, school administrator, superintendent, and college professor. Dr. Gray has a zest for education and a love for children. Book Description:
Is there corruption at the Arizona State Board for Charter Schools? Once you've read this book, you'll be able to answer that chilling question yourself. Are you a charter school owner, authorizer, employee, parent, student, law maker, or community member? If so, brace yourself. In these pages you'll read shocking evidence -- private conversations, decisions, and habits -- documenting corrupt behavior by the Board. You'll view a Board filled with unethical decisions, corrupt rules, and poisonous policies. You'll see the Board and its staff abusing their power to carry out venomous vendettas.
In particular, you'll read of the toxic environment created by one individual -- a man to whom I've given the fictional name
Ahab
. A mean and hateful Board staff member, Ahab plans and executes a relentless vendetta against Dove Academy College Preparatory, the charter school I founded, and vows to close it. Ultimately successful in shutting down Dove Academy, Ahab and his dirty and corrupt machinations leave children hurting, teachers jobless, and a host of creditors and others wondering what happened to the school. Read carefully, because an Ahab might be poised to close
your
school.
But this book isn't only about corruption. For you who operate charter schools, regardless of their locations, I provide critical information on how to save your schools from the Ahabs of the world. Moreover, I impart essential information, knowledge, and wisdom, borne of my own hard-won experience, on how to effectively create and operate a successful charter school.
